About

Marcel Dzama: Tonight We Dance was published on the occasion of the artist's solo exhibition at the Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere, Finland, in 2021.

Marcel Dzama's art, expression and works create their own unique visual world. Through his intriguing and instantly identifiable idiom, the artist explores the wavering relationship between the real and the subconscious, the battle between good and evil, and also power and the multiple forms that the wielding of power takes. In his works, the history of humankind and the world is reflected in the state of society and political events.

The exhibition Tonight We Dance at the Sara Hildén Art Museum presents Dzama’s works from the beginning of the 21st century to 2021. This comprehensive overview was constructed around his works on the subject of dance. On display are drawings, paintings, collages, videos, sculptures and installations.

The exhibition catalogue features essays by Rachel Corbett, Sarianne Soikkonen and Jukka O. Miettinen.
