Florian Slotawa was published on the occasion of his solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Thun in 2003.

Florian Slotawa produces art much in the same way as the farmer's wife cooks meals, working with the materials that are on hand. He puts together temporary constellations which can be undone again. These are transitory dwellings, fixed-term embellishments, short-lived copies and spatial shifts, abstract and yet in an intimately eloquent way indicative of the artist's surroundings and everyday life.

Florian Slotawa

Florian Slotawa (b. 1972 in Rosenheim) is a German artist who is known for his creative approach of exchange and reevaluation between art and the quotidian, between public and private. In his sculptures, installations and photographs, Slotawa frequently uses everyday objects which he orders, rearranges and places in context with one another. His body of work is not only characterized by its strong composition and formal power, but also questions the boundaries between public and private, and the significance of personal property. The artist lives and works in Italy.
