About
About
Florian Slotawa was published on the occasion of his solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Mannheim in 2002.
Florian Slotawa deals with the perception of reality and the general concept of art. He creates sculptures and temporary installations from everyday objects while giving things a new function. By linking existing material to a found situation, a certain situation from life is transferred into the art context. Through the exchange and fluid transition between artwork and private property, between museum, home, hardware store, and furniture store, Slotawa's arrangements are never ballast, but exhibition objects as well as everyday objects. They move in constant circulation between the public, the market, and the private sphere, dissolving traditional ownership relationships and thus calling them into question.
The publication is accompanied by a preface from Manfred Fath and texts by Thomas Köllhofer, Raimar Stange and Astrid Wege.
